Welcome to room 1068!
My name is Amanda (Ammi) Haacke. This is my 8th year teaching at Beavercreek High School. I have a bachelors degree in Social Pyschology, a masters dgree in Special Education, and this summer I earned a second masters degree in Educational Leadership and I also obtained my Ohio Principal License.  I was a special needs assistant for twelve years previously for both Centerville and Beavercreek Schools. I am married and I have a daughter who is a Junior at The University of Cincinnati and also in the process of trying to become a police offier for Cincinnatti, a daughter who is a Senior here at BHS - she is also traveling to Africa this year to work in an orphanage, I am so proud of my girls! My son  goes to Parkwood pre-school, I think he is pretty wonderful too. I am looking forward to getting to know your families as well.
 My Kids
Your child will be in the highly structured classroom at BHS. We are looking forward to an exciting and busy year! We have six students that will be using our rooms throughout the day. As far as supplies for school, if you can just send in a pencil box or some container with general items like pencils, crayons, scissors, and a glue stick. Some students have supplies left from previous years so you may not need to send anything unless you would like to contribute to our class stock.  That would be great! Also, we will be working on grooming, if you can send in a different container with toothpaste and a tooth brush, a brush or comb, and any other grooming item you want your child to have, that would be greatly appreciated!

Throughout the year we can always use disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, tissues, paper towels, and baby wipes. Just keep us in mind if you see any good sales or get good coupons!

We have decided to use the Beavercreek High School planners as communication notebooks this year since they are provided by the school. I am lucky to have Cindy Smith and Lori Ballweg on our team as well as various other assistants and peer helpers in the room throughout the day. Please be understanding if one of them writes in the notebook as it will be hard for me to write personally in 6 books each day!

I would also love to have an e-mail address for each family. Please e-mail me a test e-mail, if you haven’t already, so I can enter you in my address book. I’m amanda.haacke@beavercreek.k12.oh.us .

Speaking of e-mails, if each of you would take a few minutes to e-mail me a brief paragraph describing a few VERY IMPORTANT facts about your child, I would appreciate it. Or you can write it and I’ll type it up. I like to share this with my student helpers and substitute teachers so they can learn a few quick facts about your child before working with them. Include your child’s, likes, dislikes, key-words or phrases that could assist or be troublesome, and anything at all you would like someone who is working with your son or daughter to know. This will be very  helpful.

I am looking forward to teaching your child and you can reach me easily by e-mail or call me at school 429-7547 ext. 1528. I believe that communication is the key to every successful relationship, feel free to communicate with me as often as you need to. That's what I'm here for.
