HVAC Improvements
Renovations at the district's elementary schools have focused on improving air circulation and instructional conditions.  At Fairbrook, Parkwood, Shaw, Valley and Ferguson, crews replaced old boilers (left) with new, high-efficiency models (right).

Window and roofing replacement
New high-efficiency windows were installed at Parkwood Elementary (left and right, below) in summer 2010, replacing the 1966-era windows that were original to the school.  New windows were installed in the original section of Main Elementary and at Ankeney Middle School as well, and the roof on the west wing of Shaw Elementary was also replaced.

Interior improvements
New ceilings have been installed at Fairbrook, Parkwood, Shaw, Valley and Ferguson.  Existing light fixtures have also been replaced with new, energy-efficient models, and energy-saving occupancy detectors have been installed in all buildings.  These detectors sense whether rooms are occupied, and turn off light fixtures when the rooms are not in use.
