Photos of Renovations Work at District Schools
Renovations at the district's elementary schools have focused on improving air circulation and instructional conditions. At Fairbrook, Parkwood, Shaw, Valley and Ferguson, crews replaced old boilers (left) with new, high-efficiency models (right).
Each of the five elementary schools, as well as and Ferguson Middle School, also received new chillers, piping, ductwork, and classroom ventilators to provide cool air relief.
Window and roofing replacement
New high-efficiency windows were installed at Parkwood Elementary (left and right, below) in summer 2010, replacing the 1966-era windows that were original to the school. New windows were installed in the original section of Main Elementary and at Ankeney Middle School as well, and the roof on the west wing of Shaw Elementary was also replaced.
Windows were also added to upper level classrooms on the east side of Ferguson Middle School, and to the FMS library.
New ceilings have been installed at Fairbrook, Parkwood, Shaw, Valley and Ferguson. Existing light fixtures have also been replaced with new, energy-efficient models, and energy-saving occupancy detectors have been installed in all buildings. These detectors sense whether rooms are occupied, and turn off light fixtures when the rooms are not in use.
New flooring has also been installed in hallways and classrooms at Fairbrook, Shaw and Valley, and the gymnasiums renovated. New flooring was also installed at Ferguson.
The front office at Fairbrook was also renovated in 2010 to provide a secure point of entrance for visitors. Similar improvements were made to the offices of Shaw and Valley in 2011, and to Ferguson and Beavercreek High School in 2012.

Another safety improvement included the installation of a new sidewalk behind Shaw (below) in 2010 to provide neighborhood walkers with safe passage between school and home (below right).
Access roads and portions of parking lots at Beavercreek High School, Ferguson Middle School, Ankeney Middle School, and Parkwood and Valley elementaries were excavated and repaved in 2010.
Renovations at Main Auditorium included plaster and roofing repairs; seating and floor covering replacement; restoration of original light fixtures; new sound and lighting equipment; the construction of an audiovisual control booth; and the installation of new heating/ventilation/air conditioning and energy control systems.
