All new and veteran parents are invited to a new parent meeting on Friday August 3 at 6:30.
The meeting will be held at the high school and the exact location will be announced A.S.A.P.
The band will perform their pre-camp show for you that night at about 8:20 p.m.
All students are reminded to review the rehearsal schedule. Two-A-Days start on Monday July 30. 1-4 p.m. & 6-9 p.m. Learning is going at a very fast pace at this point. It is extremely important that everyone be participating at every rehearsal. There is no way that students who sit out or are absent can be guaranteed a spot in the early season shows.
Please remember to have appropriate clothing, shoes, rain gear, sun block, bug repellent at EVERY rehearsal. Due to weather and our learning pace we may need to revise the plan at any rehearsal. Be prepared!
All students are reminded to search for ways that you can make a more positive contribution to the success of the group. Remember you are "Part of the Problem" or "Part of the Solution" It is a choice YOU make.
All Drill is written, All Music is written, All Color Guard has been chosen, Now it is very much in the hands of the students. What are you going to do with your 2012 Season?
We will not be using drill shirts in 2012-2013. This is a cost cutting measure.
We will be turning over $100 of your fees paid to The Beavercreek Music Parents to The Board of Education to cover your "Pay To Play" fee. This money will be used to pay for all our school bus costs for the season. This will cost the band over $20,000.00. This is money that we did not budget. We will need to be extremely careful of all expenditures. This fee does not cover any of our charter bus trips.
Help pick the "Fan Favorites" for music to be used this Fall. Please vote for your favorites on our web. Help pass the word to your friends.
Students are reminded to take care of your drill sheets, create drill books, etc. Complete instructions are in the band room. (Many students have required a new sheet at every rehearsal) First we want students to be much more responsible for your stuff, and second we can't afford to keep copying endless supplies of paperwork.
The band room will be getting our new carpet starting early Tuesday July 31. We will need to move EVERYTHING out of the room and lockers after rehearsal Monday July 30. We will have NO ACCESS TO THE BAND ROOM OR BAND DOORS UNTIL THE WORK IS COMPLETE. We may not have access to the room until Monday of camp. Everybody's help and patience will be needed.
ALL STUDENTS are reminded that being physically fit is an absolute must for our success. The rehearsal on Thursday should tell us just how out-of-shape many of us are. We have been talking about it all summer but it seems that many have ignored the situation. Please take some personal steps to improve your physical capabilities.
As we approach two-a-days and camp I would strongly suggest that all members new and old read the handbook again. The parts about our philosophy, our goals, our rules and expectations should all help you in the next couple of weeks and all through the season. Don't take things for granted!
All drivers who are picking up or dropping off students for rehearsals or performances are asked to set a pick-up area in the parking lot with their student. Please do not pull up to the band door to pick-up or drop off. We have too many students and soon will have a number of carts with percussion equipment along with our band truck and trailer that all need to get to the band door. For "THE SAFETY OF ALL" please do not use the loop outside the band door for drop off or pick up.
P.S. The band kids could use the exercise of walking a few hundred feet, and it will actually speed up the process of getting out after rehearsal.
This is a very busy time for band and I would strongly suggest that you check the website daily for updates.
