Welcome back to school!  We are excited about starting another year at Shaw and would like to extend an invitation for you to get involved in the PTO.  Our meetings are always held on the fourth Thursday of every month, with the exception of November and December, at 2:15 p.m. in the Shaw Library.  As a parent of a student at Shaw, you are automatically a member of the PTO.  We would love to have your input! 

The PTO will be having several events throughout the year:   Bowling parties; Shaw Spirit Nights at local restaurants; Pastries with Parents & Grandparents; Talent Show and of course our annual Magazine Sale.  We also assist with the Science Fair, Field Day, Kindergarten Registration & Assessment in addition to hosting several popcorn and snow cone parties.

Here is just a sample of things your PTO funds at Shaw:

*"Timely Tiger Contest" which is a non tardy reward program

* Exhibits-to-Go which is a science exhibit brought to Shaw by Boonshoft Museum of Discovery

* 4-H in the classroom by providing chick eggs and incubators to allow students to watch and learn about chicks hatching  through the incubation process

* Supports the Character Education Program at Shaw by funding the STARS Program

*Makes several purchases for supplies and equipment needs for the teachers and staff.  Recent purchases include a laminator for the teacher workroom; Mats for all bathrooms in Shaw and yearly purchases of extra items for our Ellison Machine. 

*Makes a yearly donation to Beavercreek High School to support the after prom committee.

*Funds 2 college scholarships for 2 former Shaw Students that are graduating from Beavercreek High School.

*Muse Machine Elementary Program for the third grade students   

In addition to all this, we also provide volunteer support to the office, the nurse and any other request from the staff at Shaw.  With your support, we are able to fund all of these worth-while programs by raising money primarily from our Magazine sale, Boxtop  Labels and Spirit Nights.  If you have any questions, please contact one of your PTO officers.
