Department of Teaching and Learning
Amy Baldridge, Curriculum Director

Beavercreek is rated "Excellent" for the 12th consecutive year from the Ohio State Board of Education and the Ohio Department of Education.

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for the development, implementation, assessment and ongoing revision of all courses of study for Beavercreek City Schools. The department is also charged with continuous improvement of classroom instruction as well as the administration and interpretation of the statewide testing program.

Gifted services, instructional technology, educational media, textbook/instructional resource purchases, staff development, Race to the Top, OIP, CCIP, federal programs and the District Art Show are all coordinated by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.

The philosophy of education in Beavercreek Schools is based on the belief that children are the most valuable resources in any community, city or nation. The maximum educational development of each student is our ultimate objective, and we formulate our curriculum around two major premises:

First, we endeavor to equip our youth with increasingly complex knowledge and skills
to prepare them for vocations or for further formal education in college and professional
    schools.

Second, we strive to introduce our children to practices and ideals of personal and group
behavior that will perpetuate and advance the aims and benefits of a democratic way of life.

We further believe the major purposes and goals of educators are all-inclusive and should be centered around the individual needs and natures of our schoolchildren.

The following educational objectives embody these goals:
  • to improve the standards and thoroughness of our educational program and thus be prepared for tomorrow's needs
  • to provide adequate facilities for each pupil and prepare the student for qualified and useful citizenship
  • to assist in the professional growth of our teachers and improve their standing in the community
  • to motivate active participation by parents and the concern of the general public as essential in enabling the Board to accomplish desired objectives
