Mrs. Minton's ELL students are from all over the world: Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Vietnam, The Congo, Turkey, Japan, Spain, and Lebanon. To start the 23-24 school year, she introduced them to America's favorite pastime, BASEBALL! Students learned baseball vocabulary and practiced verbs like throw, pitch, hit, miss, and swing. Then, they got to try it out for themselves. Also, baseball lessons are only complete with learning "Take Me Out to the Ballgame and eating some Cracker Jacks!

T-shirts are on sale now through 11:59 p.m., September 6. Click the link for more information or to purchase a shirt. https://beavercreekgameofhope2023.itemorder.com/.../3414.../

Today was a great day for learning as we had various staff professional development going on. Our BHS teachers learned about ways to use data to inform instructional strategies. Our middle school teachers spent time collaborating to learn more about the characteristics and needs of our students and how we can better support them, and some of our elementary staff spent time learning more about emotional intelligence.

Our incoming freshmen attended orientation this week to prepare for the new year! A huge shout out to John Anderson, Heather Barker, and the Creek Crew students for working to make this such a success. Also, while our students were busy preparing, a parent orientation was presented by Ferguson Hall administrators and counselors in the BHS auditorium. Thank you to all BCS staff and community groups who helped make this presentation successful as well.

Beavercreek City Schools and Ferguson Hall are collecting excess Halloween candy to provide gratitude bags for local first responders and veterans. We will be collecting excess, pre-packaged Halloween candy throughout the week of November 1-4. District-wide collection sites this year include Ferguson Hall, Main Elementary, and Fairbrook Elementary where there will be bins in the entryway by the offices for parents and students to drop off during school hours. Please send the candy in Ziploc bags. Please no powder candy or sweet tarts. Thank you for your generosity in this worthwhile cause.
