On December 2, 2024, Fairbrook Elementary's third-grade students and teachers were ON FIRE as they presented their original script, DETEXTIVES, created in collaboration with professional theater teaching artist Michael Kenwood Lippert from the Muse Machine Preschool & Elementary Program.
This creative performance explored the importance of non-fiction text features and how they help readers better understand texts. The energy, joy, and talent on display left the audience captivated and inspired!

Every year, BHS Student Council hosts a Thanksgiving party filled with food, games, and plenty of fun! This year, the festivities included:
π A spirit day competition with themes like Charlie Brown, Minions, Pink-out, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. Congratulations to the Christmas Committee (Maggie, Anna, Ireland, Kinzie, Jax, and Rebecca Carlson) for winning with their festive flair! ππ¬
π¦ A hidden turkey game β 36 paper turkeys were hidden around the room, and the best turkey hunter walked away with a candy bar!
β Thanksgiving trivia β the winner earned first dibs on the amazing food spread, which included ham, mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese, pies, and more!

Our Fairbrook students have been busy preparing for Thanksgiving in some creative and educational ways!
π Fourth graders in Ms. Bruhn's class did some Thanksgiving dinner shopping by exploring Kroger ads, practicing addition, subtraction, rounding, and ordering decimals!
π½οΈ Kindergarteners celebrated their annual Thanksgiving Feast by creating tablecloths and sharing a meal together with their classmates.
π¦ Both kindergarten and fourth grade students got into the holiday spirit by helping turkeys survive Thanksgiving! Kindergarteners made turkey disguises, while fourth graders applied their knowledge of animal adaptations to create camouflage for their turkeys.

They explored how to:
π Measure liquid volume using a graduated cylinder
π Calculate the volume of a solid using centimeter cubes and the formula Length x Width x Height
The students were amazing, taking the activity seriously and showing off their skills! π Their curiosity and enthusiasm were inspiring to see. Way to go, future scientists and mathematicians! π§‘

We are incredibly proud of our very own Ms. Creech! πΆ On Veterans Day, she was honored to participate in the Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery/Community Veterans' Day Ceremony.
Alongside her sister, Ms. Creech performed The National Anthem and America the Beautiful, paying tribute to veterans and their family's legacy. This event held special meaning, as their parents are laid to rest there, and their dad was an Army veteran. It also marked the anniversary of their mom's passing. π

Last month was bittersweet as our Board of Education held its final meeting at 3040 Kemp Rd., marking the end of an era. 𧑠In case you missed it, the BOE is relocating to convert the central office space into additional preschool classrooms.
